We are delighted to confirm that after the fantastic success of last years concert we are doing it a...
Ben Corfield is a 7 year old boy who lives in Little Wenlock in Telford, Shropshire. He attends Coalbrookdale and Ironbridge primary school and is is one of three brothers. He is a funny, cheeky and vibrant boy who loves having fun.
On 19th February 2015 Ben was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and his life has been like a whirlwind ever since. He's had to endure blood transfusions, chemotherapy, steroids, injections and endless other hospital procedures. He is in and out of hospital on a regular basis as he deals with his condition and faces a long road to being fit and healthy and more importantly cancer free.
Although his life has changed Ben hasn't. He is still the same little boy who loves playing with his friends and family, he loves being active, playing all sports but especially football !
Ben's passion is football. Whever its Champions league, Premier league, Non league or a kick around in the park Ben loves watching, talking and more importantly playing the game. He plays for Admaston Juniors Football Club and for AFC Telford Utd. He plays upfront as a determined centre forward but would happily play anywhere on the pitch and often does in a game as is his desire to be involved and to help his team mates is everything to him. Prior to him becoming ill Ben was doing fantastically well scoring goals for fun for Admaston and more than playing his part with Telford even though he was playing with boys nearly a year older than him. His character is to get stuck in, to be strong and to do his best. It is these quality's he's going to need as he faces his battle with his illness and thankfully its excatly what he's doing.
Using Ben as their inspiration and his love of football, Ben's dad and a group of friends have set up ' The Ben Corfield Football Fund ' which aims to raise money for sick children. Ben is sadly not alone in his condition and there are countless others dealing with illness of all types from a very young age. The money we raise will in the future help them and the hospitals and specialist wards they rely on so much. We hope over a period of time that we can put on big events that get children and adults involved being active, having fun and hopefully raising some money along the way.
We have already staged a football match between the dads and coaches of Admaston Juniors FC, a grand prize draw, a coffee morning and have various other events in the pipeline. These include a charity walk, a golf day, an auction, a kids football tournament and have various friends planning to show how fit they are by doing running events up and down the country.
Peoples genorosity has been nothing short of amazing and truly humbling, Ben and his family have got lots of fantastic friends and the help and support they have shown has helped them deal with Bens condition and continues to help them raise money in his name.
Ben is determined to get well and will face whatever is put infront of him with determination and a smile on his face. To check on his progress, to keep up with our planned events and to keep tabs on our running money total please keep coming back to view our website.
Bens message is to Be Strong, Have fun and keep smiling
